4-H plant science trip heads to ISU

Mar 07, 2018

Ninth-to 12th-grade 4-H’ers interested in the Horticulture and Turf Management areas are invited to be a part of a new 4-H Plant Science field trip to Iowa State University on April 30.

Participants will start the day at the ISU Horticulture Research Station with a tour to see current research projects in progress while assisting with some hands-on experiences with that research. They will hear from research students and faculty and learn about horticulture-related careers. Participants will spend time at Jack Trice stadium learning about sports turf grass management and possible careers. Maya Haslett, ISU Extension & Outreach Crop Science Youth Education Specialist, has planned this trip and is excited to get 4-H’ers from southeast Iowa on campus and connected to ISU resources.

Registration forms are available at the Washington County Extension Office or on the website at http://www.extension.iastate.edu/washington/. The $20 fee will cover transportation, insurance, activity supplies and lunch. Registrations are due March 30 and will be taken on firstcome, first-serve basis due to limited space.

Questions may be directed to the Washington County Extension Office at 319-653-4811.
