Amanda Pfeifer, of Riverside, is the daughter of Lee and Wanda Pfeifer.

Her sister is Brittney Pfeifer.

She attends Mid-Prairie High School and is a member of Bows and Bullets.

“This year I will be exhibiting in Visual Arts, Outdoor Adventures, Food and Nutrition, Photography, Citizenship, and Home Improvement,” Amanda said. “In the past I have exhibited in Photography, Outdoor Adventures, Visual Arts, Environment, Woodworking, Ag and Natural Resources, Communications, Vet Science, Child Development, Self-Determined, Food and Nutrition, Health, Sewing and Needle Arts, Communication posters, Science, Engineering and Technology, and Pride of Iowa.”

Her activities include being a two-year County Council member, 2017 club president, Non-Livestock exhibits, Communication Night, Pride of Iowa, counselor for Clover Kids Cooking Club, Summer Day Camp counselor and 2017 Fair Queen Pageant.

“My most meaningful accomplishment is being president of the Bows and Bullets 4-H club,” Amanda said. “This experience was meaningful because it showed me not to back down in challenging situations. When I first joined the club, I was the only female member. It was a little scary being the only female in the club, but I knew I was just as good as the boys. I feel a great sense of pride being able to change the perception of girls in sport shooting clubs as well as change the perception of our club within the county.”

She encourages others to join 4-H to learn more about themselves.

“I learned so much in 4-H, but the most important skill I learned was personal attributes or social skills,” she said. “In 4-H, you learn so much about communication, leadership and citizenship skills. These skills helped me a lot in middle school and high school. Without 4-H, I know I would not be as prepared for college and the rest of my life.”

Her other activities in school are Interact Club, NHS, Silver Cord and Student Leadership Club.

Her future plans are to go to school to study to be a physician assistant specializing in emergency medicine.
