4-H’ers weld at Project Extravaganza

Dec 05, 2017
Gannon Callahan, Bows & Bullets 4-H Club, excelled in completing his welding projects and then assisted several others.  Isaac Kleese, Franklin Clubs 4-H Club,  worked to create several other welding pieces with the help of Callahan.

If it could be welded, 4-H’ers were trying it Saturday, Dec. 2, while at the Welding Workshop and 4-H Project Extravaganza. Each 4-Her learned basic welding terms, safety, techniques and tips while making a horseshoe butterfly or horseshoe boot rack. The workshop was led by instructor Marco Frausto at the Kirkwood Washington County Regional Center. 4-H Youth Committee member Jodi Ebert assisted with the morning and said all 11 participants “loved every bit of it and some have very advanced skills. It was wonderful to see some with experience helping others too.” Participants included Gannon Callahan, Isaac Kleese, Jack Kleese, Aiden McGuire, Grace Puttmann, Isabelle Reed, Cameron Rinner, Carmen Sieren, Charlotte Sieren, Greta Sieren, and Braydon Younge. The 4-H Project Extravaganza was designed to offer several unique hands-on learning opportunities through a variety of workshops partnered on one day. Another similar day has been set for March 17.
