The Wayland High School Class of 1948 held its 69th class reunion at the Applewood Bistro in Washington, at 11 a.m., Friday, Sept. 8.

The table centerpiece had a bouquet of roses in memory of the nine who had died. This bouquet was given to the person who had the most great-grandchildren, who was Mary Frances Graber, who has 27 great-grandchildren. A brick from the old high school building, sprayed white with large purple letters WHS, was laid on the table along with a large white “W” from a letter sweater of the basketball boys and cheerleaders from the class.

After a delicious meal ordered from the menu, everyone enjoyed a piece of pie, made by Virginia Tschantz. Each member was asked to name a favorite teacher or subject, which proved to be interesting, because most said they got A’s in that class! There were humorous readings about senior citizens, and a history lesson that you won’t read about in school.

Members of the committees in charge were Virginia Tschantz and Pauline Wyse.
