Additional charges have been filed on two people who were arrested in October in connection with the death of their 17-month-old daughter.

According to the Washington County call log, Anthony Lamont McCoy, 36, of Wellman, and Ambrashia Marie Chrzan, 29, of Wellman were arrestedWednesday morning in the Washington County jail. McCoy was charged with violation of probation on an original charge of prohibited acts manufacture delivery, conspiracy or possession of marijuana. Bond is $10,000 cash. Chrzan was arrested on a warrant for violation of probation on an original charge of prohibited acts manufacture, delivery, conspiracy or possession of marijuana. Bond is $5,000.

Both pleaded not guilty of child endangerment resulting in death earlier this month.

McCoy and Chrzan were arrested after their 17-month old daughter Avery McCoy was found dead in her crib on Nov. 9, 2016. They remain in the Washington County Jail under $200,000 bond. If convicted, they could face up to 50 years in prison.

In an earlier interview, Washington County Attorney John Gish confirmed that McCoy’s death occurred at a house her family was renting in Riverside. He had reported the medical examiner had ruled the death a homicide and declined further comment. Medical Examiner Paul Towner had later confirmed the findings of the autopsy were that Avery McCoy was malnourished at the time of her death and she weighed 11 pounds. The exact cause of death was undetermined.

Avery McCoy was born May 31, 2015 in Mercy Hospital in Iowa City, the daughter of Anthony McCoy and Ambrashia Chrzan. The couple reportedly has 11 children, and one other child who died at an earlier date

The Iowa Division of Criminal Investigation, the Washington County Sheriff’s Office, Washington County Attorney’s Office, Iowa Attorney General’s Office and Iowa Medical Examiner’s Office jointly conducted the investigation into the death.
