Area baseball teams doing well

It was a cooler week on the fields for area baseball teams, but their bats didn’t cool down as many recorded wins.

Highland won five of their last six games played. They traveled to Louisa-Muscatine Monday, June 19, and returned home with a 10-1 victory.

The boys earned a win at Cardinal Tuesday, June 20, with a 4-2 final score.

The Huskies were host to Iowa Mennonite Thursday, June 22, and won the game 8-7.

The game at Albia Friday, June 23, resulted in a 4-5 loss for the team. They faced Danville, Monday, June 26.

That game ended with a 11-1 score. The Huskies won at Central Lee 7-4 Tuesday, June 27, by a 7-4 score. Highland’s record is 16-4.

They next play at Wapello Thursday, June 29, starting at 7 p.m.

For Mid-Prairie, they lost to Bellevue Monday, June 19, by a 1-4 score.

The boys played against Fairfield Thursday, June 22, which ended in a 7-6 victory for the Golden Hawks.

The boys played Durant in a doubleheader Friday, June 23.

The first game ended with a Mid-Prairie 7-6 victory while the second game ended with Durant handing Mid-Prairie a 1-11 loss.

The boys played a doubleheader at West Branch Monday, June 26.

Both games ended in a 3-2 final score in Mid-Prairie’s favor.

The Golden Hawks take their 13-10 record to Albia Friday, June 30, starting at 5:30 p.m. for doubleheader action.

The Iowa Mennonite boys fell at Cardinal Monday, June 19, by a 3-4 final score.

They won over Danville Tuesday, June 20, by a 12-2 final score in six innings. They lost to Highland Thursday, June 22, 7-8.

They played two games Saturday, June 24. The first game was against Danville which ended 16-7 in IMS’ favor.

The second game took nine innings to play, but resulted in IMS winning 5-4 over Keokuk.

They next played against Central Lee Monday, June 26, ending in a 4-9 final score in Central Lee’s favor.

IMS defeated Winfield-Mt. Union 15-0 Tuesday, June 27. The team now has a 10-8 record.

They next take to the field at Van Buren Thursday, June 29, starting at 7 p.m.

Keota was host to Iowa Valley Monday, June 19. That game ended in an 8-0 road victory for the team.

The Eagles lost to Lone Tree, 6-20 after five innings of play Thursday, June 22. The boys bounced back Friday, June 23, as they defeated Tri-County 13-7.

The team faced Sigourney Monday, June 26, which ended in Sigourney’s favor by a final score of 2-5.

The team has an 8-8 record and will next play Wednesday, June 28, at English Valleys starting at 5 p.m.

The Columbus boys were shut out by Burlington-Notre Dame Monday, June 19, by a 0-15 score.

They lost at home to Lone Tree Tuesday, June 20, 3-10 and lost at Mediapolis Thursday, June 22, 0-14.

They played at Holy Trinity Monday, June 26. That game ended with a 3-4 loss.

The Wildcats played Tuesday, June 27, at West Liberty in which they lost 4-14.

The boys have a 1-17 record and will play at Cardinal Friday, June 30, beginning at 7 p.m.
