At the Library

By Debbie Stanton, Library Director | Jun 26, 2017

As librarians, we’re always looking at our collection to see what needs to change and what we should add, and the same is true for our online digital collection. I’m excited to report that starting July 1, our library patrons will have access to a slew of new online resources!

GALE Journal/Magazine Database: This database will replace our former EbscoHost resource. The GALE database includes full-text access to magazine and journal articles, and is broken down by interest area including resources for K to- fifth-graders, middle schoolers, high schoolers, adults, and Spanish-speakers. There is also a resource called “Health & Wellness Resource Center” to find accurate and up-to-date health information, a “Business Insights Essentials” resource, and a section for educators!

Chilton Library: Get the detailed information you need to tackle vehicle maintenance and repairs. Some of Chilton Library’s more popular features include: maintenance tables for each specific vehicle, step-by-step service and repair procedures, vacuum diagrams, wiring diagrams, close-up photographs and illustrations, ASE test prep quizzes for the most popular certification exams, and the ability to easily print out what you need!

Credo Reference: A set of reference e-books on a variety of subjects, from aquaculture and biographies to cooking, folklore, and technology. Remember when you used to get lost searching for information in huge reference books in the library? A simple search of Credo will look through 700 reference books at one time!

Transparent Language Online: An old new favorite! Thanks to support from the State Library of Iowa, we’re able to bring back access to this popular language-learning program. This replaces the Mango Language learning tool. One hundred plus languages to choose from, a flexible learning path, an extensive English-learning collection, enhanced compatibility for use on any Internet-enabled device, and unique courses including business- and medical-specific language learning mean you are on the right track to learning that new language today!

Start using these new resources on July 1, and let us know what you think!
