At the library

By Lindsay Hippen | Jul 10, 2017

“Happiness is a mood. It’s a condition. It’s not a destination. And if people thought of it that way, they’d find happiness a lot more.”

I recently heard this quote while watching the well-known T.V. series, One Tree Hill. This quote made me think about all of the things in my life that make me happy. While my family and friends are at the top of list, there are others that make me happy as well, in which I have learned to appreciate more. Growing up, I’ve always said, “I can’t wait to get out of Washington” but now, my days of living in Washington are quickly coming to an end. Now, I just wish time would slow down. I’ve come to learn that growing up in the small town of Washington really has made me incredibly happy. I had my first job, made some of the best friends, and enjoyed some for the things that really make Washington special.

Working these last two years as a library page at the Washington Public Library has allowed me to get to know the patrons of Washington. They are always so friendly and so eager to find a great book to read. It has been an honor getting to know the residents of the town that I love so dearly. It also has been wonderful to form friendships with my co-workers. Friendships that never would’ve been formed if it weren’t for working at the library.

I hope after reading this, you too will start to think of all the things that you didn’t realize make you happy, rather than just saying “One day I’ll be happy again.”

These are the new materials available at the library this week.
