A group starting a charitable event was able to purchase backpacks Friday, Aug. 4, for those in need.

Maddie Widmer, with Thrivent Financial along with others in her team took part in a Thrivent Action Team, which allowed them to receive $250 in seed money to use toward jump starting a charitable event.

The event called New Attitude Backpack Drive is put on by Traci Wenger, owner of New Attitude.

Her clients have been bringing in backpacks and other school supplies for several weeks now, and together we decided it would be a great use of one of Widmer’s Action Teams for this year to help take the donations to another level.

Altogether, they purchased 16 backpacks, two kindergarten rest mats, and dozens of other miscellaneous supplies for Stewart School.

These will be distributed to children in need of these supplies at the beginning of the school year.

The drive still is going on at New Attitude, and those interested in contributing can either purchase new school supplies or backpacks, or can drop off a check to the salon which will be used to purchase more supplies.
