Barbara Ann Mayor, 85, of Brighton, died Sunday afternoon September 24, 2017, at her home surrounded by her family.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday September 28, 2017, at the Brighton United Church with Rev. Rick Zickefoose and Chaplin Don Combs officiating. Burial will be in Hillcrest Cemetery. Visitation will be 5-7 p.m. Wednesday September 27, 2017, at Gould Funeral Home in Brighton. Memorials for Hospice Compassus may be left at the funeral home, church or mailed to the family at 308 West Madison, Brighton, IA 52540.

She was born July 19, 1932, in Wyandotte, Mich. to Elfred and Elizabeth Ann Hood Murphy. Barb graduated from St. Mary's Academy in Monroe, Mich. and married Robert Todd June 28, 1952, which ended in divorce and then married Louie Mayor November 29, 1971, in Kansas City, Mo. She moved around frequently being the wife of a military man, and really enjoyed her travels and living in many different places. Barbara lived in Michigan, Germany, Colorado, Hawaii, California and Missouri until she settled in Brighton in 1974. She enjoyed bowling, bingo, casinos and time with her family.

Barbara is survived by her children: Elizabeth (Bob) Henderson, Richland, Mo.; Dawn (Jim) Hesseltine, Brighton; Sandra Todd, Washington; Deb (Kevin) Smith, Brighton; Linda Hagist, Wayland; Don Hagist, Brighton; step-children: Gary Mayor and Larry Mayor both of Waynesville, Mo.; Brenda Kloepper, Kansas City, Mo.; Greg (Angie) Hall, Washington; many grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husbands, one stepson, Butch Mayor, five brothers: Jack, Bill, Don, Ray and an infant brother; and one sister, Beverly A. Schmitt.
