Last night Washington had a chance to ‘Meet the Demons’ at the Demon Baseball Diamond as the baseball team scrimmaged the softball team for four innings.
The baseball team pulled off the win in walk-off fashion, scoring three runs in the bottom of the fourth to beat the softball team 4-2.
In the contest, the baseball team was pitched softballs, while the softball team hit baseballs into the field.
Since the game was at the baseball diamond, the softball team was able to lead off the bases in the game.
The baseball team scored first in the contest, as Dakota Kron reached home on an error, but the softball team battled back in the next inning, plating two runs after an error by the baseball team.
The baseball team loaded the bases in the bottom of the fourth, bringing Walker Breard, who pitched and played first base in the scrimmage, to the plate. He grounded into fielder’s choice which gave the baseball team the win in the bottom of
the fourth.
Both teams begin their regular season schedules next week, as baseball takes on Eddysville-Blakesburg on Tuesday and softball opens up at home against Columbus.
