Bike ride to come through city

The annual GranGABLE bike ride will pass through Washington County Sunday morning and stop at Highland High School

for a rest stop before continuing on to the finish line in Iowa City.

According to the bike ride’s website, the ride will stop at Highland High School bewtween 7:45 and 8:50 a.m. Sunday. The ride will continue to Hills.

New this year is a Gable Gravel Grinder” challenge that will take riders on gravel roads in Washington, Johnson, Keokuk and Iowa counties.

The granGABLE, powered by Scheels, is a mass-participation cycling event that combines all that is Hawkeye with good health, exercise, and a commitment to excellence. Nobody embodies this more than legendary athlete and coach, Dan Gable. Through an incredible partnership between Coach Gable, the Iowa City/Coralville Area Convention & Visitors Bureau, the Iowa Bicycle Coalition, and RAGBRAI (yes, the experts at RAGBRAI), the ride has emerged as a premier fondo in Iowa!

Ride with cyclists from all over the Hawkeye state and beyond. All gravel and century finishers will earn the exclusive and highly sought after granGABLE completion medal.

Proceeds from the granGABLE fondo will benefit the Iowa Bicycle Coalition and Hawkeye Wrestling Club.
