Caryl Smith held a family get-together May 24-28. Those present included her four sons, David of Clearbrook, Minn., Carl and Beth of Fort Collins, Colo., Jerry and Judy with Justin of Orrington, Maine, and Nelson and Jacklyn of Brighton. Also present were David’s sons, Corey and Sherry with Cameron of Fosston, Minn., Chad of Bagley, Minn., and Blair and Heather with Morgan and Evan of Aberdeen, S.D.; and Carl’s sons, Ryan with Parker, Morgan and Ryan’s friend Chris with Auna of Greeley, Colo. David’s wife, Diane, and Jerry’s son David were unable to come because of health issues.

The Krony Krew Bridge Club met May 22 at the home of Sarah Robison. Elaine Watson of Richland was a guest. Winners were Kathryn Dickinson, Elaine Watson and Phyllis Scheeler. Their next meeting will be on June 12 at the home of Shirley Schooley.

Shirley Schooley spent the weekend of May 17 in Missoula, Mont. She attended the college graduation ceremony of her grandson Grant Schooley, son of Mike and Cindi of Alexandria, Va.

Chapter AQ, P.E.O., met on May 21 at the home of Lou Leeper in Washington. Seventeen members were present. The initiation procedure was reviewed.

Special guest was Lexi Marek of Washington. She is a graduating senior at Washington High School. She received a $2,500 Star Scholarship from Chapter AQ, P.E.O. Lexi will attend Iowa State in Ames. Her parents are Tim and Heather Marek of Washington. Her maternal grandparents are Lyle and Ruth Stacy of Brighton.

Their next meeting will be held June 4 at the home of Joyce Dunbar.

Winifred Fritz was visited May 18 by her daughter and grandchildren. Mary Stecker with Bridget Hollingsworth of Fairfield arrived with Malcolm and Branden Dietzman of Keosauqua. They worked in the garden. The boys enjoyed seeing all the farm animals. On May 19, Mary and Bridget with friend Joel provided the evening meal at Winifred’s home.

Winifred received word on May 20 that her brother-in-law, Bernard Redlinger of Harper, had died on May 19.
