While the Washington County call log wasn’t specific about the reasons for the arrest, Washington County Chief Deputy Shawn Ellingson confirmed this morning that a Brighton man was arrested in connection with a chase that occurred early Wednesday.

Aaron Lucas Williams, 18, of Brighton was initially arrested for failure to appear for an initial appearance on an original charge of driving while his license was under suspension. Charges were later added for fifth-degree criminal mischief, interference with official acts, felony eluding, second-degree criminal mischief, three counts of failure to obey a stop sign, speeding 70 mph in a 25 mph zone, speeding 120 mph in a 55 mph zone, failure to maintain control, reckless driving, including driving on the wrong side of a two-lane highway, and two counts of driving under suspension.

The call log reported that at 5:03 a.m. Wednesday, the deputy was in pursuit of a vehicle at the Brighton Park at West Fountain Street and North Mechanic Street. The log reported the vehicle wrecked in Henry County at Highway 78 and Franklin Avenue. A male subject reportedly left on foot.

Another deputy, the Henry County Sheriff’s Department, the Iowa State patrol and the Iowa Department of Criminal Investigation all responded.

A hold was also placed on Williams for failure to appear for a pretrial conference on an original charge of a minor using tobacco/vapor products.
