Charles A. Leeper, age 74, of Brighton, Iowa, died Wednesday, January 31, 2018, at the University of Iowa Hospital after failing in health for the past 18 months.


Celebration of life services will be held at 7:00 p.m. Tuesday, February 6, 2018, at the Jones & Eden Funeral Home in Washington, Iowa, with Rev. Rick Zickefoose officiating. Calling hours will begin at 4:00 p.m. Tuesday at the Jones & Eden Funeral Home where the family will receive friends from 5:00-7:00 p.m. Interment will take place at the Hillcrest Cemetery in Brighton at a later date. Charlie was born December 20, 1943, in Washington, Iowa, the son of Clifford W. and Frances (Derby) Leeper. He attended school in Brighton, Iowa, and graduated from Washington High School in 1963. Charlie was married to Jean Ramsey in 1965.


Charlie farmed all of his life in the Washington Community. He also worked at Northrup King, Farm Service and Wal Mart. He enjoyed going out to eat and visiting with his friends at the Frontier Restaurant. He was an avid deer hunter and loved to go mushrooming.


He is survived by his son, Matt Leeper and wife Roberta of Ainsworth, Iowa; son, Mark Leeper of Washington, Iowa; two grandsons, Thomas and Theodore; brother, Clifford F. "Kit" Leeper of Wichita Falls, Texas; sister, Lelani Clark of Big Spring, Texas; sister, Beth Johnson and husband Bill of Urbandale, Iowa; and sister-in-law, Lou Leeper of Washington, Iowa.


Charlie was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Benjamin Leeper; and sister, Katheryn West.
