Charles E. (Chick) Lyle, age 92, of Washington, formerly of Keota, died Wednesday, July 5, 2017, at the Washington County Hospital.

Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday, July 10, 2017, at the United Church of Faith in Keota, with Rev. Mike Druhl officiating. Burial will be at Keota Cemetery. Visitation from 2-5 p.m. on Sunday, July 9, 2017, will be at Powell Funeral Home in Keota.

Memorials will go to the United Church of Faith. Powell Funeral Home and Cremation Service in Keota is caring for Charles and his family.

Lyle was born January 5, 1925, near Keota, to Guy and Ruth (Rittenhouse) Lyle. He attended Green Valley country school and graduated from Keota High School in 1941. After graduation he returned to the family farm. On February 20, 1947, he married Dorothy Ossman at the Keota Federated Church. The couple farmed northwest of Keota until moving into Keota in 1980.

Lyle still made several trips out to the farm throughout the rest of his life before moving to independent living last fall. He was a member of the United Church of Faith in Keota. After retirement from the farm he began running and ran in some 700 races over 27 years. He enjoyed watching his grandchildren in all their different events, competitions and performances.

Survivors include three sons: Don of Vinton, Denny (Sharon) of Keota and Larry (Kris) of Keota; eight grandchildren: Cari (Nick) Khoo, Aaron (Sarah), Allison (friend DJ Reimer), Brandon (fiancé Andrea Sturdevant), Zach, Caleb (Emily), Elysha and Mariah; four great-grandchildren: Emma, Rena, Elleana and Collin and two sisters: Reta Gullett and Shirley Bohr.

Lyle was preceded in death by his parents, wife and four brothers: Richard, Francis, Jim and Robert in infancy
