Clara Frances Cox, 93, of Richland passed away at Pleasantview Care Center of Kalona Friday afternoon February 2, 2018.

She was born June 14, 1924, to Arza Ray and Bessie Leola (Waters) Brown in Stockport, Iowa. Clara married Wilford Franklin Cox February 1, 1946, in her parents' home. She graduated from Stockport High School in 1941 and attended Parsons College in Fairfield. She was a farm wife and taught country school in Van Buren and Keokuk Counties and worked for Hy-Vee in Fairfield for 22 years. Clara was a devoted grandmother, enjoyed gardening, reading and did lots of baking. She was a member of Trinity Friends Church and Order of the Eastern Star in Richland.

Left to cherish her memory are her three daughters: Barbara Raska of Spencer, Ila Capps (Craig) of Kalona and Carol Speidel (Tim) of St. Paul, Minn., six grandchildren: Christi Hadley, Jeffrey (Mel) Capps, Michael T. Hadley (Mandy), Heather Scharff (Martin), Shane Capps and Zachary Speidel; 11 great-grandchildren: Mackenzie Hadley-Theobald, Malachi, Morgan and Ethan Capps, Michael R. and Emily Hadley, Payton, Garrett and Maxwell Scharff, Hunter and Austin Capps and two great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parent; husband; one sister, Margaret Hubbs; and two great-grandsons: Skyler Fankhauser and Coby Hadley-Theobald.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday February 8, 2018, at Trinity Friends Church with Pastor Tim Hadley officiating. Burial will be in Richland Friends Cemetery. Visitation with the family will be Wednesday evening 6:00-7:30 p.m. at the Gould Funeral Home in Richland. Memorials to Trinity Friends Church may be left at the funeral home, church or mailed to the family at 911 8th Street, Kalona, IA 52247.
