The Chilcote Questers met on Oct. 5. The meeting called to order at 7:15 with six present.

Minutes of the September meeting were read and approved. The treasurer’s report indicated the same balance as in September. There was no correspondence.

Donna Proudfit is moving back to Washington. She is interested in books for the library.

It was discussed to bring Gift Baskets for the Christmas fundraising auction and make them nice, so people would WANT to buy them.

There was no new business. Announcements included the DAR Jewelry sale that was held Nov. 3 and 4.

DL T.T.T. nut order forms were passed around.

The November meeting was at Virginia’s house and the topic was the Washington Municipal Band.

JoAnne Worley was co-hostess. The meeting adjourned at 7:50 p.m. The program was “We All Scream” presented by Mary Levy. Ice cream was found in second century B.C. mentions, then in the 16th century in England, followed by Italy. The industry began in 1851 with soda fountains following in the 1870s. The ice cream cone was created in 1896. The average American eats 23 pounds of ice cream per year.

 

The Nov. 2 meeting was called to order at 7:10 p.m. Roll call was answered with “Your Favorite Thanksgiving Food” by 10 members. Three were absent. Minutes of the October meeting were read and approved.

Treasurer Jackie needs checks from two new members for this year’s dues. The treasurer’s report was approved.

Kathleen Almelien was dressed in Woodstock garb, featuring ‘60’s apparel, authentic. Woodstock had been a state meeting subject, which she reported about. Roy Rogers, church pipe organs, paper artifacts, and toys were also part of that event.

The library committee needs to discuss books and potential online resources. The Christmas auction will be the December program at Mary Levy’s house w/ Marilyn Klise as the co-hostess. The meeting adjourned at 7:50 p.m.

Virginia McCurdy, hostess, gave the program on “The Municipal Band” in Washington, which included information on when it started and side bars about bandstands, music stores, etc. JoAnne Worley served poached pears for dessert.

 

On Dec. 7, 2017, 13 members of Chilcote Questers met at the beautifully decorated home of Mary Levy for their annual Christmas auction fundraiser. Minutes of the previous meeting and the treasurer’s report were given and approved. Addresses for new members were received. Discussion in the business meeting centered on book donations and continuing approaches for display of the club’s books.

 

The February meeting was held Feb. 1, at Phyllis Eisele’s home. She discussed her Pyrex dishes. Her co-hostess was Joanne Worley.

Much fun surrounded the auction of the many items donated. Carol Horning, a guest, was the auctioneer and sparked some lively bidding. A delicious dessert finished the evening, courtesy of Marilyn Klise.
