Coalition to host dunk tank

May 30, 2018

By David Hotle, The JOURNAL

People who have always wanted to see people from the community such as Washington Police Officer Ron See, county attorney John Gish, or mayor Jaron Rosien dropped into a tank of cold water will have their chance during Ridiculous Day this year.

The Washington County Coalition Against Sexual Assault will host a dunk tank from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. saturday in conjunction with the Ridiculous Day activities that are part of the third day of Summer Classic. Coalition director Deanna Hansen said that the dunk tank is a way to help raise funds to benefit survivors of sexual violence in the county.

“There have been a lot of times when victims just haven’t had the money to make it anywhere,” she said. “We are raising money to provide victims with services.”

She said the money could go to such things as gas cards or a motel, or anything that is needed.

The tank will be located right off the square. She said in the event of rain, a new location will be determined.

Summer Classic begins Thursday and runs through Sunday.
