Word has been received here of the death of Alice Maurine Davis, 98, of Waterloo, formerly of Delta. She died Monday, July 22, 2013.

Alice was a teacher and librarian in public schools and was a classroom teacher in Crawfordsville from 1954-1957. Her husband Guy was superintendent at Crawfordsville during those years.

She is survived by one daughter, Allaire (Warren) George of Waterloo, a 1957 graduate of Crawfordsville High School; and nine grandchildren.

Members of the White Cloud Club and their guests met at the Crawfordsville ball field shelter for their annual August picnic on Sunday, Aug. 18.

Members of the committee cleaned the building, the tables and supplied the drinks.

Those attending were: Jolene and Andy Colthurst, Joyce Huff, Carrie and Jay Coble and Nick, Virginia Sands, Betty and Allan Lucas, Frieda Finke, Pauline and Floyd Richardson, Julia Bletscher, Lennis and Eldon Beichter and Betty and Gene Lintz.

The potluck meal was enjoyed by all.

The members discussed the club tour which will be held Sept. 2, with members meeting at the church parking lot at 8 a.m. and traveling to Washington where they will have coffee at the Coffee Corner at 8:30 a.m. They will be joined in Washington by members Joyce and Jolene.

Mary Long is recuperating from injuries following a recent auto accident at Park Place in Mt. Pleasant. She would love to have visitors or cards. Mail will reach her at Park Place, 401 S. Van Buren St. , Room 47, Mt. Pleasant, IA 52641-2299.

The Fall Rummage Sale at the United Church of Crawfordsville will be held starting Thursday, Aug. 29, from 1 to 6 p.m.; Friday, Aug. 30, from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m.; and Saturday, Aug. 31, from 8 a.m. until 12. Everyone is asked to come and pack up the leftover items at noon on Saturday. Ruth Erwin, Joyce Huff and Julia Bletscher are the committee.
