Arvid and Joan Anderson of Crawfordsville welcomed a great-granddaughter, Harlyn Alayne Anderson born April 18, 2018, to Taylor and Amy Anderson of Cedar Falls. Harlyn was welcomed by her sister, Leighton and brother, Maxwell. Grandparents are Ed and Leanne Anderson of Nashua.

Arvid Anderson attended the 1st District American Legion Spring Conference at Wilton, Iowa on Saturday, April 21, 2018.

The Department of the American Legion of Iowa reported that Crawfordsville Post #593 and Sons of the American Legion , had both reached their 100% Growth Goal for 2018.

Orientation for Boys State will be held at Crawfordsville American Legion Post #593 on Saturday, April 28, 2018 at 2:30p.m.

The Fall District Conference will be at West Branch on Oct. 20.

The meeting was well attended by both the American Legion and Auxiliary.

The Crawfordsville Lions Club met Monday, April 23, at 7 p.m. at the Crawfordsville Community Room with 11 members and one guest, Jane Blieu present.

Lion President Lance Miller opened the meeting with the Pledge of Allegiance and Lion Gene Miller offered the invocation.

The minutes of the April 9, 2018 meeting were approved as read. Lion Treasurer Randy Finke gave his report.

Old Business: The 2018 Crawfordsville Lions Club WACO High School $500 Scholarship recipient has been selected from a pool of five applicants. The award will be presented by Lion President Lance Miller at the WACO High School Awards Night on May 15, at 7 p.m.

New Business: It was moved, seconded and approved to serve the noon meal for Crawfordsville Fun Day on July 7 at the Ball Park. On the menu will be pork burgers, hot dogs, chips and drinks. It was moved, seconded and approved to make a contribution towards the WACO High School Silver Cord Program.

It was noted that since the 4th Monday of May falls on Memorial Day, there will only be one meeting in May, the dinner meeting on May 14.

There being no further business, the meeting adjourned. Delicious refreshments were served by Lion President Lance Miller and Lion Larry Swailes.

Sunday, May 6, 2018 is Graduation Sunday and the seniors will be honored at a reception following church on that day.
