Cytennial celebration features 'Cans for Cookies

Oct 18, 2012

Celebrate the 100th anniversary of Iowa State University (ISU) Homecoming at Washington County Extension and Outreach. The Cytennial Celebration “Cans for Cookies”will be held on Friday, Oct. 26, from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. at the Washington County Extension office.

A bakery-fresh Iowa State cookie will be given in exchange for every canned food item brought to the Washington County Extension office. The goal is to collect 100 canned food items for the HACAP food pantry in honor of the 100th anniversary of ISU Homecoming.

In 1912, Professor S.W. Beyer called out to alumni, encouraging them to return to Ames for the Iowa State College-University of Iowa football game for Iowa State’s first “homecoming” celebration. Over the past 100 years Homecoming has become a cherished ISU tradition — a time of reunion and celebration.

Celebrate Cytennial with Washington County Extension on Oct. 26. Show your Cyclone pride and benefit the HACAP food pantry. Door prizes will also be available. Hawkeye, Panther, Golden Hawk, Demon, Huskie, Warrier, Golden Hawk, and Cobra fans are invited to attend.
