Mar 29, 2013

Washington Chapter of Daughters of the American Revolution met at 1:30 p.m. Monday, March 18, at Halcyon House. Regent Julie Beenblossom conducted the business meeting.

Regent Beenblossom informed the members she is the state DAR flag chairman and as such has been asked to present a report at the State DAR Conference, April 25-27 in Ames.

Alexander Young Cabin Committee member Marj Lins informed the members of maintenance and repair items needed at the cabin. The members also voted to host a garden walk in July to benefit the cabin. Plans were also made for a plant sale during the Flag Day observance in June at the local farmers market.

Julie Mangold presented the program on “The Star-Spangled Banner.” She used several clever visuals to illustrate the facts surrounding the writing of “The Star-Spangled Banner.”

The next meeting will be on April 1, at 1:30 p.m. at Dodici’s in Washington.
