The Washington County Extension Office held a “Dig Those Dinosaurs” Day Camp on June 18, at Kalona City Park; June 19, at Marr Park; and June 20, at Hall Park in Riverside. This is the first year Riverside City Council has sponsored this camp to be held in Riverside. All three days contained the same fun and excitement. Around 60 kindergartners and first-graders attended the camps.

The campers learned about how dinosaurs lived long ago, compared themselves to the size of a dinosaur, went digging for fossils, hunted for dinosaur eggs, made their own dinosaurs and had fun acting like dinosaurs, as well as enjoyed fun games and activities.

Leaders for the camp were extension staff Jodi Ebert and Kelsey Martins with help from members of the Washington 4-H County Council and Leadership Development Team.
