Edward Elmer "Fast Eddie" Jones, age 70, of Washington, passed away Wednesday, July 11, 2018 at his residence.

 

Celebration of life services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, July 18, 2018 at the High School Auditorium in Washington with Pastor Jon Rees officiating. Calling hours will begin at 2 p.m. on Tuesday, July 17, 2018 at the Jones & Eden Funeral Home in Washington where family will receive friends from 4-7 Tuesday evening. Interment will be held at Elm Grove Cemetery. Memorials have been established for the Washington Athletic Boosters and Camp R.E.E.C.E. Ed was born on July 29, 1947, the son of Harry Elmer and Hazel Emaline (Voigt) Jones. He graduated from Washington High School.

 

Ed worked for Jim's Standard, Hy-Vee, WCDC and Pizza Hut. He attended Camp R.E.E.C.E and was a huge supporter of the Washington Athletics. Ed played the guitar and organ and thoroughly enjoyed music and dancing. He was an avid bowler and loved to travel, particularly to Hawaii, Graceland and Disney World. Ed enjoyed bikes, watching movies and helping those who needed it, often mowing lawns and shoveling snow.

 

He is survived by his siblings: Edgar (Robin) Jones of Sedona, Ariz. and Sarah Jones of Burlington, Iowa; two nephews: Bruce (Sherry) Swailes of West Chester, Iowa and Arti (Cami) Swailes of Mt. Pleasant, Iowa; and one niece, Teresa Swailes of Mt. Pleasant, Iowa; as well as a many many friends.

 

He was preceded in death by his parents and siblings: Mary Lou Swailes, Harrison Jones, Ronnie Jones and David Jones; and three great-nephews: Ryan Shafer, Isaiah Swailes and Brandon Swailes.
