Elizabeth M. Wolfe, 94, of Washington, died Friday, May 12, 2017, in the Sigourney Health Care in Sigourney.

Celebration of life services will be held at 10:30 a.m., Thursday, May 18, at the Jones & Eden Funeral Home in Washington. Visitation will begin at noon, Wednesday at the funeral home, where the family will receive friends from 5 until 7 p.m. Burial will be at the Elm Grove Cemetery in Washington. Memorials have been established for the Sigourney Health Care.

Mrs. Wolfe was born Feb. 27, 1923, in Muscatine, the daughter of Lawrence J. and Frieda (Dennison) Varney. She married Wayne Ordell Wolfe on May 17, 1942, in Kahoka, Missouri.

She attended school in Washington, graduating from Washington High School in 1941. She attended Washington Junior College in Washington. She was a homemaker and worked at several manufacturing companies in Washington. She was a foundry worker at Crane Valves until her retirement. Family was her top priority. She loved spending time with her family, and enjoyed camping, fishing, hunting, and playing cards.

Surviving are three children, Robert Wolfe of South English, Gwen Shepherd and husband Ed of Washington, and Dennis Wolfe and wife Sandi of Washington; 19 grandchildren; and numerous great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, in 2008; one son, Don Wolfe, in 2010; three great-grandchildren; two brothers, Robert Varney, and William Varney; and one sister, Faye Henry.
