Emergency haying of CRP extended

Sep 09, 2013

Due to unique circumstances of timing of the release of emergency haying on Aug. 29 with the deadline for completion Aug. 31, the Farm Service Agency (FSA) is extending the deadline to complete the emergency haying to Sept. 20, 2013. This extended time frame is only authorized for the counties (includes Washington) that were approved as of Aug. 29.

Emergency Haying may be performed on acres hayed last year, 50 percent of each field must remain un-hayed, and the payment reduction for 2013 is 10 percent. Only certain CRP practices are eligible for emergency haying, so farmers should check with the county office first. Filter strips are not eligible. Producers must complete a request for emergency haying with the county office prior to starting haying.

For more information, please contact your local County FSA office or the website at <http://www.fsa.usda.gov>.
