By David Hotle | Aug 07, 2017

The Washington Poloice Department is searching for a subject or subjects who exposed themselves during conversations with residents in Washington.

A press release from the Washington Police Department says that at about 6:50 p.m. Friday, July 28, police received a report of a Hispanic male following two young girls in the 100 block of West Main Street, driving a blue Chevy Suburban. A bystander observed this and approached the subject in the vehicle. The driver of the van exposed himself to the bystander while they talked.

An other incident was reported at about 7:43 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 3. A subject described as a Hispanic male with black hair, beard, and driving a green van, allegedly exposed himself to someone else. The report said in this incident when a bystander approached the vehicle they could see the subject exposing himself. The incident took place near the intersection of South Avenue C and West Washington Street. During the investigation, it was learned a similar incident had occurred earlier in the day in the area of the YMCA of Washington County.

“We’ve increased our patrols,” Washington Police Chief Greg Goodman said. “We are really putting an effort into finding this person.”

Goodman said the incidents had occurred around the square and the Y, and that the subject had been asking directions to HyVee during the incidents.

People with information are asked to contact the police department at (319) 653-2107.

“If someone witnesses some strange behavior on the square or around the Y with that kind of activity or someone onboard a vehicle, I think it would be a good idea to call the police,” Goodman said.
