Fair week continues with many events scheduled to come

With many fairgoers working to beat the heat, the 2017 washington County Fair continued, with many proud 4-H’ers showing off their animals to the crowd.

During the breeding beef show, which was held Tuesday afternoon, Isaac Black of Highlanders showed the champion produce heifer and Ashley Harmsen of Limecreek Limelights showed the reserve. Phelan Hostetler of Riverside Ramblers showed the champion returning bucket bottle breeding heifer and Iris Peterson of Washington Go-Getters showed the reserve. James Colbert of Riverside Ramblers showed the champion angus, with Madison Thomann of Highlanders showing the reserve. Leah Evans of Washington Go-Getters showed the champion red angus and Caden Evans of Washington Go-Getters showed the reserve. Grady Yeggy of Riverside Ramblers showed the champion simmental and Macey Thomann of Riverside Ramblers showed the reserve. Kristine Thomann of Highlanders showed the champion foundation simmental and Peighton Ford of Limecreek Limelights showed the reserve. Ford showed the champion Hereford and Carter Harmsen of Limecreek Livewires showed the reserve. Peyton Yeggy of Riverside Ramblers showed the champion black Hereford. Nadiyah Brown of Crooked Creek showed the champion maintainer. Derick Sandberg of Highlanders showed the champion Chianina. Sydney Black of Highlanders showed the champion shorthorn. Isaac Black showed the champion shorthorn plus with Taylor Sublette of Highlanders showing the reserve. Grady Yeggy showed the champion cow/calf and Madison Thomann of Highlanders showed the reserve. Conner Eichelberger of Crooked Creek showed the champion commercial heifer and Brynn Younge showed the reserve.

Eichelberger showed the champion commercial breeding heifer and Younge showed the reserve. Younge also won champion junior showmanship with Hadley Boshart of Crooked Creek winning reserve. Phelan Hostetler won intermediate showmanship and Haley Sweeting of Riverside Ramblers got reserve. James Colbert of Riverside Ramblers won senior showmanship and Grady Yeggy got reserve.

In the poultry show, Grace Hiller of Crooked Creek won the single egg layer class and Zane Fisher of Bows and Bullets got reserve. Hiller also won the fancy exotic hobby bantam type breed with Gabe Greiner of Franklin Cubs getting reserve. Eli Van Roekel of Kalona Klassics won the standardized production broilers class and Greta Sieren of Dutch Creek Flyers got reserve. Colin McClellen of Limecreek livewires got the junior showmanship award and Leah Wide of Washington Hustlers received the intermediate/senior showmanship award.

Wide also won the turkeys class with Gavin Greiner of Franklin Cubs winning reserve. Hiller won the champion duck contest and Lona Farrier of Crooked Creek was reserve. Hiller won the champion pen of 3 egg layers prize and Fisher was reserve. Hiller won champion and reserve honors in the champion goose contest. Hiller won fancy, exotic larger breed and Carsen Mellinger of Highlanders was reserve. Van Roekel won the overall poultry award and Hiller was reserve. Rob Taylor of Washington Go-Getters won champion and reserve in the other poultry class.
