Falling and getting up again

By Pastor Dave Watson, Washington First Assembly of God | Jun 20, 2014

A wise man once said that “success is measured by the number of failures you stand upon.”

Many individuals who are in society today have tried the “church thing” and have fallen away. They try with all their might to go to church and do things that are righteous but still find themselves failing when they place their lives up against the word of God. So, they give up.

In our lives, we are never promised that when we accept Jesus Christ we are somehow made perfect and will never fail again. This flaw in our thinking has led to countless individuals leaving the church in droves. We must understand that Jesus Christ died because he knew that we would fail.

People who are young in their faith must understand that it is by the grace of God and his loving mercy that we are saved. Jesus Christ, the perfect sacrificed so the penalty of sin would no longer be mankind’s debt. He willingly took it and canceled it.

Scripture tells us that when we fail, we get back up again. We learn from the past mistakes and know that who we are now supersedes who we once were.

Don’t give up on your faith. Church is not a place of perfect people. It is a place where people go to worship the perfect and loving God who has never planned failure or destruction of his creation. Instead he has plans for us to give us hope and a future.

Stand on your failures and succeed in life holding to the hand of God.
