Former resident earns Eagle Scout award

ST. JOSEPH, Mo. — ST. JOSEPH, Mo. — James Butler of St. Joseph, Mo., earned the rank of Eagle Scout on May 5, 2013. He is a member of Troop 45, which is sponsored by Ashland United Methodist Church in St. Joseph. He is the son of Stephen and Jaysri Butler.

James started as a Cub Scout in Pack 242 in Washington, with Kathy Farrier as den mother. He received his Arrow of Light, and then moved on to start in Boy Scout Troop 24 under Chris Zehr before moving to St. Joseph, Mo.

He is also a National Honor Society member, an All-District Band member and a varsity athlete.

James’s Eagle Scout project was placing footbridges at the St. Joseph Youth Soccer Club.
