Frances E. Miller, age 101, of Washington, Iowa, died Friday, September 29, 2017, at the Parkview Home in Wayland, Iowa, following a short illness.

Mass of the Resurrection will be held 10:30 a.m. Monday, October 9, 2017, at St. James Catholic Church with Fr. Bernie Weir officiating. Calling hours will begin at 11:00 a.m. Sunday at the Jones & Eden Funeral Home in Washington where the family will receive friends from 2:00 p.m. until 4:00 p.m. Prayer services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Sunday at the Jones & Eden Funeral Home. Interment will take place at the Elm Grove Cemetery in Washington, Iowa. Memorials have been established for St. James Catholic Church or Parkview Home in Wayland. Frances was born April 11, 1916, in Black Hawk County, Iowa, the daughter of George Henry and Lydia (Adams) Bentley. She attended country school in Black Hawk County and later attended Dunkerton Consolidated Schools. Frances was married to Donald Ivan Mastain on August 11, 1934. They later divorced. Frances was later married to Charles "Chick" Miller in November of 1985.

At the age of 17, Frances moved to Waterloo to provide housekeeping services to local families. She was the manager of a Dry Cleaning Store in Cedar Rapids for 39 years. Frances was a resident of Washington since 1985 where she was a member of St. James Catholic Church.

She is survived by five children: Nelda Rouse and husband John "Pete" of Marion, Iowa; Janet Sterling and special friend Jimmy L. Renfro of Wayland, Iowa; Marlys Lauf and husband Art of Cedar Rapids, Iowa; Alvin Mastain of Indianapolis, Indiana; Gordon "Mike" Mastain and wife Mary Oberreuter of Marion, Iowa; special friend, Kyanne Wagner of Washington, Iowa; two step-children, Frank Miller and wife Deb of Washington, Iowa and Dennis Miller and wife Nora of Belle Plaine, Iowa. Frances is also survived by 14 grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren, 10 great-great-grandchildren and two sisters, Edith Paustian of Waverly, Iowa and Juanita Wolf of Waterloo, Iowa.

Frances was preceded in death by her husband, Chick Miller; son, Richard Mastain; one brother, Clifford Bentley; two sisters, Rosetta Jaschen and Estella Schraeder; and two daughters-in-law, Cindy Mastain and Kathy Mastain
