G26 closed to through traffic from Hickory Avenue to Juniper Avenue

Jul 02, 2014

Beginning Monday, July 7, Washington County will close G26 (190th Street) to through traffic from Hickory Avenue to Juniper Avenue for a reinforced concrete box culvert replacement project. According to County Engineer Jacob Thorius, “This work will help to improve the underlying infrastructure on one of our paved roads and eliminate a weight restriction that is impacting traffic.” Iowa Bridge and Culvert of Washington, Iowa, was awarded the project at a cost of $267,140.30. Local construction dollars will be used to pay for the project.

Traffic will be detoured using Highway 1, G20 (170th Street) and W38 (Ginkgo Avenue). Residents are advised to use the designated detour and to use caution while traveling on the detour. G26 will be closed to through traffic for the duration of the project, which is tentatively scheduled to be completed in early fall.

Any questions about the project should be directed to the Washington County Engineer’s office.
