Girl killed in crash Sunday morning

KALONA—A fatal crash in Johnson County on Sunday, Dec. 1 involved a teenager from Wellman.
According to the crash report from the Iowa State Patrol, a vehicle driven by Jeffrey Thomas Bulechek, 27, of Iowa City, was driving eastbound on 520th Street. The second vehicle, which was driven by Teresa Ranae Miller, 17, of Wellman, was driving northbound on Highway 1.
Bulechek’s vehicle collided with Miller’s in the middle of the intersection of Highway 1 and 520th Street . Both vehicles rolled and ended up in the ditch, the accident report said.
Fifteen-year-old Brittany Nicole Hochstetler, of Grabill, Ind., was a passenger in Miller’s vehicle, was airlifted to the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics. She died from the injuries she received in the car accident.
Miller, Bulechek, and Brooke Sierra Miller, 16, of Fay, Okla., another passenger in Teresa Ranae Miller’s vehicle, were all transported by ambulance to the hospital, the accident report said.
The crash is still under investigation by the Iowa State Patrol technical accident investigators, according to the report.
