Goats and dogs dominate fair Monday

The 2017 Washington County Fair began in earnest Monday as the goat show and the dog agility show were held during a relatively cool day at the fair.

In the dog agility show, Lona Farrier of Crooked Creek won grand champion in the open agility class anc Katie Leichty of Crooked Creek showed the reserve champion. Farrier won the grand champion prize for novice agility - small dog and Maya Murphy of Washington Go-Getters showed the reserve. Ellie Todd of Green Acres showed the grand champion novice agility - medium dog and Zoe Fisher of Limecreek Limelights showed the reserve. Haylee Trowbridge of Horse and Pony Club showed the grand champion novice agility -large dog and Kyleigh Dolan of Washington Go-Getters showed the reserve.

In the goat show, Jacob Leonard of Bows and Bullets showed the champion yearling dairy doe, the champion senior dairy doe, and the champion and reserve overall dairy goat. Olivia Utzinger of Kalona Klassics showed the champion dairy goat wether. Haley Sweeting of Riverside Ramblers showed the champion junior breeding meat doe and Sarah Schneider of Riverside Ramblers showed the reserve. Sweeting also showed the champion yearling breeding meat doe and Cobi Hershberger of Limecreek Livewires showed the reserve. Sweeting showed the champion senior breeding meat doe and Madison Ross of Washington Hustlers showed the reserve. Sweeting showed the champion overall breeding meat doe and Schneider showed the reserve. Spencer Arnold of Riverside Ramblers showed the champion overall market goat and Greta Sieren of Dutch Creek Flyers showed the reserve.

In the goat showmanship contest, Halli Hershberger of Limecreek Limelights showed the champion junior and Aaron Schaedler of Riverside Ramblers showed the reserve. Zane Arnold of Riverside Ramblers showed the champion intermediate and Sweeting showed the reserve. Arnold showed the champion senior and Sydney Black of Highlanders showed the reserve.

Kaitlin Martin of Limecreek Limelights showed the rate of gain champion and Ally Rees of Green Acres showed the reserve.

Leonard showed the champion yearling dairy doe under 2 years old and the senior dairy doe over 2 years old. Utzinger showed the champion dairy goat whether and Zane Fisher of Bows and Bullets showed the reserve. Sarah Schneider showed the champion breeding meat doe 0-3 months and Black showed the reserve. Sweeting showed the champion breeding meat doe 4-6 months and Arnold showed the reserve. Schneider showed the champion breeding meat doe 7-9 months and Isaac Black of Highlanders showed the reserve. Sweeting showed the champion breeding meat doe 13-18 months and Austin Black of Horse and Pony Club showed the reserve. Cobi Hershberger showed the champion breeding meat doe 19-24 months and Halli Hershberger showed the reserve.

Sweeting showed the champion breeding meat doe 25 months plus and Madison Ross of Washington Hustlers showed the reserve.

Spencer Arnold showed the commercial meat goat wether of doe, show class 1 champion and Brooke Stout of Jackson Jets showed the reserve. Sweeting showed the class 2 champion and Zane Arnold showed the reserve. Isaac Black showed the class 3 champion and Sydney Black showed the reserve. Greta Sieren of Dutch Creek Flyers showed the class 4 champion and Gabe Greiner of Washington FFA showed the reserve.

Gracie Greiner of Washington FFA showed the Class 5 champion and Isaac Black showed the reserve.
