Golden Hawks win the Clear Creek-Amana Classic

Courtesy of: Stacia Bontrager The Mid-Prairie wrestling team won Saturday’s Clear Creek-Amana Classic in Tiffin. The Golden Hawks crowned five champions and had four runners-up at the tournament.

TIFFIN — The Mid-Prairie wrestling team crowned five individual champions en route to the team title at Saturday’s Clear Creek-Amana Classic.

Mid-Prairie 113-pounder Josh Murphy, 138-pounder Kendall Bontrager, 152-pounder Miguel Sanchez, 182-pounder Phirom Peterschmidt and 195-pounder Nearoth Peterschmidt each went undefeated on the day to win their respective weight classes. Golden Hawk 106-pounder Ryan Errthum, 126-pounder Jayse Horning, 160-pounder Cameron Tolander and 170-pounder Eesaa Baylor each finished second.

The Golden Hawks totaled 183 points and finished 13.5 points ahead of the Bettendorf junior varsity, which took second place. Host Clear Creek-Amana was third with 134.5 points.
