Group makes Vision Iowa presentation

By Xiomara Levsen | Mar 14, 2014

Dr. Mike Jorgensen, superintendent of the Washington Community School District (WCSD), Robert Youngquist, committee chairperson for the Washington High School new  auditorium, and Washington Economic Development Group (WEDG) director Ed Raber met with Vision Iowa officials this past Wednesday.
Jorgensen said he thought the presentation went well, but there are still a few logistics that needs to be worked out.
“The Vision Iowa group is asking us to have a 28E agreement between the city and the school district,” Jorgensen said. “I think that’s because they wanted to make sure the auditorium isn’t just a facility for the school district but also something the community could use as well.”
Originally, the lawyer said a 28E agreement between the school district and the city couldn’t be done because of the upcoming bond vote, Jorgensen said. Now the lawyer is looking into all the possibilities.
