Sep 22, 2017

Howard Dantuma representing the Marion Avenue Baptist Church provided the weekly service to Halcyon House residents this past Sunday. The sermon was titled “Dying (to self).” Scripture from Galatians 2:20 was shared with those in attendance. Dantuma also played the piano.

Gertrude Jones enjoyed a visit this week from her son, Louie Jones. Louie traveled from his home in Panama to spend time visiting his mother.

Halcyon House residents enjoyed Mix and Mingle in the Applewood Bistro this week. This event is held monthly and provides a fun, informal way to meet new neighbors or catch up with old friends. This month attendees enjoyed fall-themed complimentary light appetizers. Those attending included: Wes and Carol Madsen, Audrey Stark, Mike and Barb Wood, Denny and Connie Sorrell, Erma Ropp, Becky Patterson and Fred Stark.

Residents were busy this week getting the Halcyon House float ready for the WHS Homecoming Parade. Shirley Canfield, Alice Moore and Betty Osincup assisted Wellness Coordinator Megan Richardson, with making all the signs that appeared on the float. Denny Sorrell, Connie Sorrell, Don Gardner, Loretta Gardner, Becky Patterson, Gladys Ferguson, Bea Johnson, and Mary Ann Hennigan worked together to decorate the float.

Burdell Huisinga had a birthday this month. Her family gathered for a birthday party and shared cake to celebrated with her in Arborwood.

Harold Steele had a farm auction this week. It was a bittersweet experience for him. It brought closure to a significant era of his life but also brought family together for a time. He is looking forward to resting up and to new adventures in the future.

Happy Birthday wishes go out this week to Ken Crone.

Halcyon House team members and residents extend our sympathy to the family of Paul Westfall.
