Halcyon House residents and team members supported “Go Red Day,” sponsored by the American Heart Association, by wearing red and using the cardiovascular equipment in the fitness center Friday, Feb. 2. A huge thank-you to Mercy Brinning, Halcyon House Wellness coordinator, for making darling hearts out of clay for all Go Red Day participants.

Halcyon House intern Amy Jurczak, kicked off a four-week book club discussing the Wellness Council of America book, ”Walking 4 Wellness-Four Simple Steps to Achieve Your Best Body and Life.” The book club meets every Friday morning at 8:30 a.m. in February at the Applewood Bistro. Larry Canfield and Shirley Canfield recently met their new great-grandson, Kieran. Larry traveled to Des Moines with his daughter, Susan Wellington and her husband, Earl and their daughter, Katy. They enjoyed lunch with Larry’s oldest daughter and her husband, Chris and Tony Forcucci. After lunch they all went to visit his granddaughter and her husband, Shannon and Kam Earnest, at their home where he got to meet his 6-week old great-grandson for the first time. Shirley was surprised by a last-minute visit later in the week. Her son-in-law, Tony, was in Kalona on business from Des Moines and granddaughter Shannon and great-grandson Kieran rode along and stopped for a quick visit. Shirley enjoyed catching up with Shannon and meeting her new great grandson.

Happy birthday wishes go out to Halcyon House residents Dick Chorpening, Mona Paul, Peg Gerot, Lucy Cheyney, George Davidson.

The residents and team members at Halcyon House extend their deepest sympathies to the family and friends of Minnie Stoner.
