Highland defeats IMS in conference match

KALONA – The Highland High School coed soccer team paid a visit to the Iowa Mennonite School last night for a Southeast Iowa Super Conference match. The Huskies got back on the bus after 80 minutes of soccer had been played with a 3 – 2 victory.
Scoring for Highland were Tyler Beers, Josh Brase and Bryan Garcia. Brase also recorded two assists. Jesse Wollrab had an assist in the match as well. Colin Sexton played all 80 minutes as keeper for the Huskies, making 25 saves.
Eli Gingerich and Kirby Shetler scored for IMS. Enrique Sanchez notched an assist. Cole Yoder was the keeper for IMS throughout the match, making six saves.
Highland takes the pitch again at Wapello on Thursday, May 8. The Huskies now have a record of 5 – 5, with all of those matches being played against conference opponents. IMS falls to 6 – 5 overall and 5 – 3 in conference play. IMS plays again at home on Thursday against Columbus Community.
