Those fans of Columbus Community and Highland soccer who braved the cold and foggy conditions last night were treated to a great match.
The Wildcats prevailed over the Huskies at Highland High School by a score of 4 – 3 in a Southeast Iowa Super Conference contest. Goals were scored for Columbus Community by senior Alex Cruz, who had three, and senior Efrain Barajas. For the Huskies, sophomore Giovanny Aguilar scored all three goals.
Columbus Community head coach Luis Cacho said of the match, “Our performance was great. We had some trouble defending our net at the end of the first half but we made some adjustments and played better the rest of the way. Highland is a great team and it took our best effort to get this win.”
The Wildcats are scheduled to play next at Wapello on Tuesday, April 8. The Huskies will take the field again at Danville this afternoon.
