IMS golfers get wins in road dual

Apr 29, 2014

WINFIELD – The Iowa Mennonite School’s boys’ and girls’ golf teams hit the road on Friday, April 25 and both squads came home with dual victories over Winfield-Mt. Union. The boys won their dual 171 – 221 and the girls won theirs 230 - 248.
“It was a beautiful day for only the second away meet for the team. Lack of practice from the cold, wet spring is really hurting our consistency. We have a lot of work to do on and around the green that will significantly improve our scores,” IMS head coach Steve Nelson said.
Tanner Leyden led the IMS boys with his nine-hole score of 45. Roman Slabach was next for IMS with his 55. Lane Schrock compiled a 58. Ben Miller shot a 63. Zach Hill finished his round at 68. RidgeLee Gingerich rounded out the IMS scoring with his 72.
The girls were led by Michaela Prihoda and her 55. Jess Bender shot a 63. Liza Brenneman finished at 64. Abbie DeWild’s scorecard showed a 66. Ellie Stastny came into the clubhouse with a 73. Elizabeth Yoder finished the girls’ tally with her 75.
Both the IMS boys and girls will host Lone Tree in a dual at the Kalona Golf Club on Thursday, May 1, if weather permits.
