LONE TREE — IMS rallied from a two-sets-to-none deficit to defeat Keota in Tuesday’s Class 1A regional quarterfinal at Lone Tree High School.

Keota won the first two sets by scores of 25-22 and 25-17 before IMS roared back to take the next three by scores of 25-17, 25-17 and 15-11.

“I am very proud of this team for rallying back after getting down two games,” IMS head coach Cindy Miller said. “We started out too flat and things just didn’t feel right. However, we found the strength to come back through our defensive strategies, which have held us all season. Sparks of defensive plays from Casey Perez, Kristin Davis, Naomi Miller and Laura Hochstetler started to ignite our offense.”

Davis led IMS (19-15) with 21 digs on the night, and Miller had 18. Perez, Hochstetler and junior Olivia Yutzy contributed 17 digs apiece.

Yutzy led IMS offensively with 28 kills, tallying 12 in the fourth set. Hochstetler added 12 kills, and Perez, who returned from a knee injury, had seven kills and 41 assists.

Perez was also a perfect 22-for-22 serving with three aces. Senior Keilah Brokaw went 17-for-18 with two aces, and Hochstetler was 16-for-17 with a pair of aces.

Sophomore Madison Sheetz spiked down 15 kills to lead the Eagles, who finished their season with a record of 11-12. Junior Kelsi Sieren added 12 kills, and senior Megan Olson had 10. Senior Jade Redlinger dished out 34 assists. Senior Lexi Sieren had a team-high 20 digs, and sophomore Brooke Sieren had 19. Kelsi Sieren had 18 digs on the night, and Olson had 12.
