IMS' rally at Central Lee falls short

DONNELLSON — IMS rallied in the seventh inning of Thursday’s non-conference baseball game at Central Lee, but fell short in a 9-8 loss to the Hawks.

After Central Lee (3-6) scored three runs in the bottom of the sixth inning to take a 9-6 lead, IMS answered with two runs in the top of the seventh, but fell shy of tying the game.

Junior Lane Schrock went 2-for-3 at the plate and drove in two runs for IMS (4-8), and senior Cameron Gingerich was 2-for-5 with a double and an RBI. Junior Tanner Leyden went 2-for-3 with a double, and senior Aaron Ockenfels also went 2-for-3. Junior Dallas Nye had a double and an RBI in the game, and sophomore Payton Miller had a hit and an RBI.

Nye took the loss for IMS. He gave up nine runs, six of which were earned, on 12 hits. He struck out three batters and walked one.
