KALONA - Hannah Harris struck out two batters against Winfield-Mt. Union Tuesday, June 27, but it was two late solo homers, including one walf-off, to hand WMU a 2-1 loss, giving IMS another win for the season.

Harris went toe-to-toe with WMU pitcher Madie Anderson all game as the two offenses struggled to put runs across the plate.

Neither team was able to score in the first five innings

In the top of the sixth inning, WMU’s Hannah Mathews knocked in Kyndal Townsley on a fielder’s choice and the Wolves led, 1-0.

IMS tied the game in the bottom of the sixth with a homer from short stop Calli Shaw.

Mia Graber came up in the bottom of the seventh and sent the dagger into the Wolves’ hearts with a walk-off homer, which finished the scoring at 2-1.

There were just six hits total in the contest, three for IMS and three for WMU.

Anderson threw seven innings in the loss, giving up two earned runs on three hits and two walks, while striking out 10.

Harris was on the mound the entire game as well, giving up the one run on three hits. She also walked two and struck out two.

The Wolves fell to 6-14 with the loss while IMS improved to 6-9.

IMS was scheduled to play at Van Buren Thursday, June 29, but the game was canceled due to weather concerns.

The girls are scheduled to play at Wapello Friday, June 30.
