IMS tangles with conference opponents

KALONA – The Iowa Mennonite School’s boys’ and girls’ golf teams competed in a conference dual against the Lone Tree Lions at the Kalona Golf Club last night. The Burlington Notre Dame boys’ team was also in competition.
The IMS boys finished with a team score of 224, besting Lone Tree by one stroke but falling to Notre Dame’s 181. The IMS girls beat Lone Tree 229 – 234.
Tanner Leyden again led the boys with a nine-hole score of 47. Roman Slabach was next at 52. Ben Miller carded a 62. Zach Hill shot a 63. Lane Schrock finished at 64. Jacob Bruns completed the varsity scoring with his 72.
Drake Brezina and RidgeLee Gingerich competed as junior varsity participants. Brezina shot a 57 and Gingerich a 63.
The IMS girls were led by Michaela Prihoda and her 55. Abbie DeWild was just a stroke off Prihoda’s pace at 56. Breana Stout carded a 58. Jess Bender shot a 60. Elizabeth Yoder finished at 74. Liza Brenneman finished the scoring with her 78.
The IMS boys and girls will both be in action on Monday, May 5 at Columbus Community.
