KALONA — IMS pulled away from Pekin in the second half of Tuesday’s key Southeast Iowa Super Conference North Division game for a 69-48 win inside Hillcrest Union.

IMS (13-2, 13-2 SEISC North) used some stout defense early in the game to limit Pekin’s good looks at the basket, and the home team led 18-5 after one quarter of play. The Panthers (10-6, 10-6 SEISC North) pulled within eight points at halftime, but IMS out-scored Pekin 19-9 in the third quarter and then went on a 12-4 run to open the fourth quarter.

Senior Cameron Gingerich scored 21 points to lead IMS and he also had four steals and four assists. Senior Justin Boller poured in four 3-pointers and 14 points. Senior Peyton Thompson and junior Reggie Hostetler added 12 points apiece. Junior Dallas Nye recorded 13 rebounds, five assists and five blocks to go with six points.
