Iowa Mennonite School graduation is May 18-19

May 13, 2013

KALONA — Iowa Mennonite School will graduate 19 seniors this weekend, in Celebration Hall on the school’s campus.

Baccalaureate services will be held at 6 p.m. Saturday, May 18, when local pastor Perry Miller, father of graduating senior Jordan Miller, will deliver the address. Class members Hannah Gingerich of Iowa City and Cameron Gingerich of rural Riverside will deliver the student speeches.

Principal Tony Miller will present diplomas on Sunday, May 19, also at 6 p.m.

The keynote speaker for the commencement exercises will be Joyce Bontrager Lehman, a 1961 IMS graduate who most recently was employed by the Bill Gates Foundation in Seattle. Lehman has traveled extensively to Afghanistan and has authored the book “From Kalona to Kabul and Beyond,” which details her journeys to that region of the world through her work with Mennonite Economic Development Associates (MEDA).

All are welcome to attend either or both services.
