Iowa Mennonite School names interim principal

Jun 18, 2013
Dr. Norm Yoder

KALONA — Dr. Norm Yoder of Henderson, Neb., has been named interim principal at Iowa Mennonite School, beginning his one-year assignment July 1.

Yoder is not new to the IMS community, having served as teacher, coach and administrator from 1974-85. He was an administrator from 1977-85.

Following the 1985 school year, Norm and his wife Linda moved with their children Jennifer and Derek to Henderson, where he assumed the position of superintendent of schools of the Henderson Community School District, a position he held until his retirement following the 2012 school year.

A search committee has been formed to name a replacement for Tony Miller, who served as principal at IMS from 2007-13. The committee will be chaired by Paula Buckwalter (school board representative), and also includes Corey Miller (pastor of West Union Mennonite Church), Don Miller (Wellman-area farmer), Sheila Bender Ours (nurse at UI Hospitals), Pam Gerig Unruh (IMS faculty) and Greg Yoder (City High School counselor).
