Iowa SWCS scholarship available

The Iowa Chapter of the Soil and Water Conservation Society is offering three memorial scholarships each valued at $500 each. The scholarships include the David L. Schnur, Newman Lyle, and the Krsnak-Runyan-Ward scholarships. The memorial scholarships provide financial aid to persons needing economic assistance and who are interested in furthering their education and careers in a soil conservation/natural resource related field through course work, special study, or seminars.

Each applicant must meet the following criteria: be a resident of Iowa; be a high school graduate or GED equivalent; be employed in a natural resource related field in Iowa for a minimum of one year or have completed a full year of post-high school course work in a natural resource related field; have demonstrated integrity, ability, and competence in his or her work; possess skills gained through training or experience; and be enrolled in the upcoming fall term.

The application can be downloaded from the iaswcs.org Web site. Applications must be postmarked by June 30, 2013, and submitted to Scott Osborn, SWCS Scholarship Application, 5061 Highway 3, Cherokee, IA 51012-7229.
